How To Start a Scrapbooking Business

Memory Memories are important to a person because it holds a special place in their hearts. These memories are
captured through mementos from dates, weddings, vacations, the birth of a child, and special events in
our lives. Scrapbook professionals would use photographs, graduation tassels, ticket stubs, napkins from
a restaurant, and even handwritten notes to fill these albums using decorative stickers, pages, words, and
themes to tell these stories. If you’re an avid scrapbooker, you might as well consider starting a business.

You can start your scrapbooking business using the following tips:

1. Research about the scrapbook industry so that you know the latest trends, suppliers, and competitions.
You can also attend craft shows and interact with fellow scrapbook business owners so that you’ll further
enhance your knowledge about the industry.

2. Use the data you have gathered from your research to different your scrapbook business from your
competition through a selection of a niche. You may consider focusing on creating scrapbooks for family
reunions, baby’s first birthday, sweet 16 celebrations, and memoirs for the newlyweds.

3. You need to think about having a catchy name for your scrapbook business. To be sure, just contact the
Chamber of Commerce to know about the states’ laws for registering a business as a legal entity.

4. Setup a workspace in your home or office so that you can have a place to meet with your potential
clients, store your supplies, and creating your scrapbooks. The ideal setup for this place is to have a large
worktable, computer, chairs, phone, printer, and storage bins. Just add whatever you think is necessary
and remember to avoid putting too much to prevent having a cluttered appearance.
And if you have additional plans, ask an expert like Pablo Schroeder for your indoors, or
the roofing services in Surrey, BC (website) and roofing Vancouver BC (Kerrisdale Roofing) expert for your outdoor needs

5. Determine the services you plan on providing and price each one accordingly. You can opt to create
scrapbooks for clients, hold a group session where you teach people your techniques, or provide
consulting services to help others in one-on-one sessions for creating their own scrapbooks. For the
pricing, you can charge by the hour, the number of pages in a book, or depending on the specifications of
the project.

6. Locate vendors that sells the supplies and equipment you need for your scrapbook business. Purchase
the card stock in a variety of colors and textures, stickers, adhesives, lace, scissors, stamps, metal brads,
specialty papers, hole punches in various shapes, and page protectors.

7. Use your supplies to come up with several samples of your scrapbooks so that you can have something
to show to your potential clients. Make sure that each sample you present is a polished product that
meets the requirements of your niche.

8. Hire a graphic and website designer to help create the marketing materials for your scrapbook business.
A website will be great for showcasing some examples of your design, pricing, and contact information.
You need to also have a logo, brochures, and business cards to let people know about your brand.

9. Attend craft shows and fairs so that you can further promote your scrapbook business. Talk to business
owners within your community who are also in a similar market to see if you can cross-promote your
services. If your niche is on wedding scrapbooks, then collaborate with wedding planners, florists, or dress
boutiques.
